Relax and refresh in luxury with a portable spa from Modern Pool & Spa. With our many styles and brands, you are sure to find a spa that will perfectly compliment your home.
How often should I drain my spa?
Every two months.
Why? Although your spa is treated chemically, it should be drained every 60 days to protect you and your family from illness and environmental hazards. You should also clean your spa filter each time the spa is drained and cleaned. To prevent any skin infections or rashes, make sure chlorine levels are appropriate and that you thoroughly scrub the tub with each water change.

What temperature do you recommend for hot tubs?
Anyone who is pregnant, anyone having a medical condition of any nature or that is taking any type of medication, should check with their doctor before using a hot tub, or deciding what temp is safe. Your pediatrician should be consulted to decide what temps are safe for children. The hot tub industry states that 109 degrees F is the maximum temp that a spa should be set to. But that doesn't mean that temp is safe for all even presumably healthy people. To achieve maximum comfort, most people soak at temps between 98 and 102 degrees F. These are usually comfortable ranges, but you will have to use common sense in soaking just like you do when working outside during the summer. If you are getting overheated, you need to cool down. After all, a hot tub should be soothing and relaxing.

Why would I want to buy a spa with 10 to 15 jets,
when I can get one with 67?

This is a case when more isn't better. And on the same note, a spa with less jets isn't necessarily any better either. The number of jets is not as important as the hydrotherapy massage action. There's no point in having a spa with lots of jets if the massaging action is both relaxing and soothing. It is just as important to have a variety of different jets to work different muscle groups in order to be the most therapeutic. A spa should be for relaxation and rejuvenation. Some spa jets can even be punishing, giving you more aches and tension when you get out of the spa than when you got in. Forget the jet count or the pump horsepower. Go for a spa in which the manufacturer designs it to have jet variety and engineers their jets to work best with the complete spa system.

Can any benefits of using a Spa
be derived for someone with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus?

With this type of diabetes, people can often control their condition with regular exercise and a good diet. Unfortunately, many diabetics are physically unable to endure rigorous activity and maintain a steady weight. In a recent study conducted at the McKee Medical Center in Colorado, eight people with Type 2 Diabetes were placed in a hot tub for 30 minutes a day for three consecutive weeks. The results indicated the patients reported a 13% reduction in blood sugar levels, improved sleep and an increase in their overall sense of well-being.
